- ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆I like this place. It's got a quirky cozy lived-in atmosphere. The vegan brie was excellent, not a lot like brie, but delicious. The pad Thai and Alfredo were okay but not great. I would definitely eat here again but would try a different main.By Jon Ben, April 01, 2017
- ★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆Maybe I had the wrong expectation... I'm from out of town and was looking for a nice dinner restaurant to take my girlfriend to as a last minute change of plans. We're both vegan and the Wild Scallion popped up after a quick Google search. It had all these rave reviews and apparently tons of options for our diet so it seemed like a no brainer. Sadly the atmosphere was anything but 'nice dinner'. I'd call it more of a down-scale, grungy, hippy, low-budget diy-renos cafe type of vibe. Our waitress was friendly enough, and when asked what to order of the three main options she said they were all very good. We ordered an appy (chips and vegan Gouda), which came out fast and no complaints here, it was really good. Nothing fancy (imagine store bought chips on a plate with a glob of dip), or at all reminiscent of cheese (more like hummus) but it was tasty. Nothing to complain about. Then we ordered our 'Vegan Alfredo' and 'Laksa'. Why it's called alfredo I have no idea. If anything it was a red curry sauce. It was okay, but the sauce was just dumped on top of a huge mound of slightly overcooked rice noodles and covered in rehydrated shitake mushrooms. The mushrooms where flavourful, and the sauce wasn't bad, but nothing to rave about. I'd give the dish a 2.5/5. The laksa was kind of like the soup version of the alfredo dish. It had the exact same style of flat rice noodles and the same mushrooms, but it was a soup. Sadly, the broth itself just wasn't that good. If you've had real laksa, it's really nothing like that. And honestly I don't care if it's not authentic as long as it tastes good but this wasn't worth eating. So we didn't eat it. Way too many noodles, and not enough tasty flavour to make the broth worth drinking. Reading the other reviews I figure this must have a different scene in the day time for lunch. Or maybe it's just people with different expectations. Sadly, it did not meet mine and I don't see myself ever going back, or recommending it to a friend.By Ulf Lonegren, December 12, 2016

- ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆Wow! I'm not really into vegan dishes but this place changed my mind and pallet. It's is very flavourful. Must try is the vegan brie..so delicious and creamy. I had the vegan pad Thai, which had just the right nutty flavor and spice to it. We also tried the chicken teriyaki, not dry at all, and came with a lot of serving. Cost was 60 for a family of 4.By Mary Trenty, July 15, 2016
